True Nature

I am exploring the expression of how strangers present themselves and the interpretation of their personality into nature. I wanted to photograph strangers in order to have a raw first impression of them; no previous background knowledge to influence what I took away from our encounter. Often people present themselves differently in different social groups. The way you present yourself when meeting a stranger is a representation of knowing who you are, your true self. By blending natural elements with individual portraits, my aim was to shift away from humanity and the things that society controls us with, to find who they are in a more nature-connected state. I was searching for a sense of self outside the influence of society in order to see where they come from. By using a blend of the portrait of the person and a nature photograph, I was able to bring through my intention: that you can never completely remove either side, there always must be a balance between nature and the person.
